It is important to understand how this service works and what makes it different from a traditional telephone service. You also need to know what to do if you need to use it. Make sure that all users in your organization are aware of the differences and limitations of the service.
911 service is managed according to CRTC guidelines (Telecom Decision CRTC 2005-21) for hosted telephony service.
SSP Telecom’s 911 service meets the highest standards of service reliability. However, this service is not guaranteed in case of technical problems. In the event of a natural disaster or other disruption where the network and lines are blocked, we cannot ensure the reliability of the service. High traffic can also make the service inaccessible.
Since 911 is not the only way to reach emergency personnel, it is recommended to keep the regular (9-digit) telephone number of police, fire, ambulance, etc. on hand.
We also strongly recommend that you keep access to a regular telephone line or cell phone as an alternative way to contact emergency services in the event of a power outage or Internet failure.
